Good questions

Will my laptop fit?
Yes, up to 14". The padded sleeve is 9 inches wide and fits a 13" or 14" MacBook or laptop. For 15" and 16" laptops choose the Large.
How much does it hold?
10 litres with the roll-top closed and 15 litres extended: a 14" laptop, A4 folder, lunch bag, 750 ml bottle in the side pocket, and a jumper or gym kit with the roll-top up.
Is it heavy?
No, 490 g empty, lighter than a bag of sugar. The padded, adjustable straps are shaped for women's shoulders so it stays comfortable when full.
What's the difference between the Original and the 2.0?
Same size and fabric. The Original has two front pockets and a magnetic roll-top and is reduced while stock lasts. The 2.0 adds one larger front pocket, a zip plus stronger magnets on the roll-top, long side pockets, extra back padding and a metal key hook.
Can I wash it?
Yes. Machine wash at 30°C on a delicate setting, then air dry. Don't tumble dry or iron, and skip bleach and harsh chemicals.
How much is delivery, and can I return it?
Free UK delivery on orders over £70. Standard delivery is £3.95 (2–3 working days) and express is £6.50 (next working day). Order before 1pm Monday to Friday and we dispatch the same day. We currently deliver to the UK and the USA; US orders ship from our US warehouse with duties included. You have 30 days to return anything unused in its original packaging, sale items included, for a full refund. Every bag is also covered by our 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

The Hackney Medium: the everyday laptop backpack

The Medium is the Hackney most people carry. It fits a laptop up to 14" in a padded sleeve, an A4 folder, a lunch bag and a 750 ml bottle in the side pocket, and weighs just 490 g empty. At 40 × 30 × 12 cm it holds 10 litres closed and 15 with the roll-top up, so it stays slim on the commute and expands with the roll-top when you add a jumper or gym kit.

Each one is made from 17 rescued plastic bottles, water-resistant with no PFA coatings, with a hidden anti-theft pocket against your back, an internal key hook, and straps padded and spaced for women's shoulders. It's machine washable at 30°C and covered by a 2-year warranty.

Two designs live here: the current Hackney 2.0 and the Original, reduced while stock lasts. Both are the same size; the 2.0 adds a larger front pocket, a zip-plus-magnet roll-top and extra back padding. Carrying a 16" laptop? Choose the Large.

The Medium bag is surprisingly roomy, with just the right number and size of pockets. I chose the slate grey colour as it was reduced, so I got a bargain price as well! Bought as a carry-on bag for a transatlantic flight, and as a day pack for a lot of walking around NYC, it has been extremely comfortable. There was a hitch with the Royal Mail tracking and the Customer Services people were super-responsive and checked the delivery for me. Love Kind Bag!

You wouldn’t believe the number of backpacks I’ve been through as a neurodivergent SEND parent. I always need a bag large enough to accommodate my everyday needs (I have a lot of needs!) that I can just hoik on my back and fly out the door without worrying about the rain or what the bag does to my menopausal joints. This is perfect. It has a range of compartments including a secret pocket tucked in the side and a clasp on an elastic lead for your keys. Oh, and it’s made of recycled plastic bottles which ensures both its hardwearing nature and eco-credentials, AND comes in a range of mouth-watering shades. I had such a hard time choosing my colour but the fact that black was not the only choice had me skipping for joy! Much recommended ✨

Best Do-It-All Bag Ever!

I am thrilled with my navy medium Hackney backpack, bought at an extremely reasonable price in the sale. It is smart and incredibly practical, and can carry lots of my daily requirements without being too bulky - I've used it as a gym bag as well. I got caught in a heavy shower recently and everything inside stayed as dry as a bone. I love the compartments inside and out, and the straps are comfortable and easy to adjust. The bag is very well-made, with sturdy zips and magnet fasteners that function very well. I can see myself getting lots and lots of use out of it! Lastly, customer service was exemplary - the bag was promptly despatched and well-packed. I love the ethos of this company and heartily recommend its products.
